1. Our Commitment to Privacy

CalmWord is a tranquil, cognitively accessible word game designed for older adults and individuals navigating dementia or memory loss. We recognize the extreme importance of privacy and dignity for our players and their families. Our app is built on a "Privacy-First" architecture: we do not require your name, email address, or phone number to download or play the game.

2. Data We Do Not Collect (Anonymous-First)

No Contact Info: We do not collect, store, or share your email address, phone number, or physical address.

No Personal Content: CalmWord does not access your device's camera roll, microphone, location, or external files.

No Tracking: We do not track your activity across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not use the IDFA (Apple) or AAID (Google) advertising identifiers, and we never sell data to third parties or advertising networks.

3. How Game Data is Managed

Local Storage: CalmWord operates on a Local-First model. Your puzzle progress, custom word libraries, difficulty configurations, and seasonal village growth metrics are saved directly to your device's internal storage. On Android devices, the 30-day trial countdown is also managed completely locally. Steps Consulting Ltd has no technical means to view or access your gameplay data.

4. Service Providers & Analytics

To securely manage app features and improve stability, we use a limited number of trusted, privacy-focused third-party tools. None of these tools receive any personal or identifying information:

RevenueCat: We use an anonymous token to manage your 30-day trial duration (iOS) and permanent unlock status across both platforms. This token is a randomly generated string and is never linked to your real-world identity.

Sentry.io: To keep the game running reliably, Sentry detects and reports application crashes and code errors. It collects completely anonymous technical details (such as your device model or operating system version) solely to help us fix bugs.

TelemetryDeck: We collect anonymous, high-level usage metrics (e.g., "puzzles completed" or "settings menu opened") to ensure our user interface remains easy to navigate. TelemetryDeck utilizes double-hashed installation tokens, strips out IP addresses entirely, and cannot link usage to an individual.

Platform App Stores: All in-app purchases are securely processed directly by Apple or Google depending on your device. We never see or store your credit card, bank account, or financial details.

5. Pricing & Permanent Unlock

CalmWord offers an honest, subscription-free pricing structure: a free 30-day trial followed by a single, optional, one-time payment of £3.95 to unlock the app permanently. There are no recurring charges, auto-renewals, or surprise fees.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

User Control: Because your gameplay history and settings reside locally on your device, you can permanently erase all data at any time simply by deleting the CalmWord app from your phone or tablet.

Appendix A: Apple App Store Supplemental Privacy Disclosures

Data Controller: For the purposes of providing the CalmWord app on iOS/iPadOS, Steps Consulting Ltd is the Data Controller. Apple Inc. acts as an independent controller for payment transactions.

App Tracking Transparency (ATT): CalmWord does not track users across third-party apps and does not use target advertising. Therefore, no ATT tracking prompt is required.

App Store Privacy Nutrition Labels: In alignment with your App Store Connect disclosures, CalmWord reports the collection of Purchases (Purchase History), Diagnostics (Crash and Performance Data), and Usage Data (Product Interactions). All data types are strictly declared as "Data Not Linked to You."

HealthKit & Clinical Data: CalmWord does not integrate with Apple HealthKit or access clinical data.

Appendix B: Google Play Store Supplemental Privacy Disclosures

Data Safety Declaration: In accordance with Google Play's Data Safety requirements, CalmWord declares the collection of limited data types under the "Data Not Linked to You" standard.

This includes:

Financial Info (In-App Purchase history tokens processed via Google Play Billing),

App Performance/Diagnostics (Crash logs processed via Sentry), and

App Info/Performance (Anonymous interaction stats via TelemetryDeck).

Encryption in Transit: All anonymous analytical tokens transmitted to our service providers are securely encrypted using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS) before leaving the Android device.

Google Play Billing Controller: Google is the sole controller of payment details for purchases made via the Play Store. Steps Consulting Ltd receives only a masked purchase token via RevenueCat to verify lifetime entitlement status.
