LifeStory: Terms & Conditions Last Updated: February 17, 2026
We’ve kept our terms as simple and transparent as possible. Our goal is to protect your memories and ensure you understand how your license and our evidence-based tools work.
1. 1. The Service LifeStory is a wellness platform designed to facilitate personal reminiscence and cognitive engagement. By using the app, you agree to these terms.
1.1 LifeStory is a wellness tool and does not provide medical diagnosis or clinical treatment. It is not a medical device. While LifeStory is a wellness and reminiscence tool, we do not access Apple HealthKit data. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID Account at the confirmation of purchase.
2. Privacy & No Tracking LifeStory does not track you across third-party apps or websites. We do not sell your data to any advertising platforms. We do not collect contact information, such as your email address or phone number, to provide this service.
3. Multi-Device Synchronization & Access Your purchase grants you a license to use LifeStory on up to three (3) concurrent personal or family devices. To maintain your privacy, LifeStory does not use email logins. Access across your permitted devices is managed via a Secure Anonymous Sync Code generated within the App. It is your responsibility to keep a record of this code; without it, LifeStory cannot link additional devices or recover encrypted data from the cloud sync service. As we have zero knowledge of the sync-code, it cannot be recovered. We use RevenueCat to verify your license status across these devices anonymously. Data is encrypted in transit.
3.1. Permanent Data Loss Warning: Because LifeStory utilizes a "Zero-Knowledge" privacy model, we do not store your identity, email, or recovery keys. If you lose your Secure Anonymous Sync Code and no longer have access to a device with the app installed with the life-story, Steps Consulting Ltd cannot recover your data or restore access. You are solely responsible for the safekeeping of this code
4. Automatic Renewal The subscription automatically renews unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your App Store Account Settings after purchase. Refunds are handled according to the terms of the respective App Store (Apple/Google). For Paddle purchases, please refer to Appendix C.
5. Lifetime Access & Payments If you choose the "Lifetime" purchase option, a one-time fee will be charged to your Apple ID, Google Play, or Credit Card via our web merchant (Paddle). This grants you perpetual access to the LifeStory features available at the time of purchase, including all subsequent "Point" updates (e.g., version 1.x). Lifetime access is tied to your anonymous account ID and is valid for the lifetime of the product's availability on the platform. Unlike subscriptions, Lifetime purchases do not recur and do not require cancellation.
5.1. Merchant of Record: While Apple, Google, or Paddle.com act as the Merchant of Record for financial transactions and tax compliance, Steps Consulting Ltd remains the sole Data Controller for your LifeStory Content. All inquiries regarding app functionality, technical support, or privacy rights must be directed to Steps Consulting Ltd
6. Data Ownership, Backup & Access
* Ownership: You retain full and exclusive rights to all photos, text, and audio uploaded to LifeStory.
Access Control: LifeStory is a subscription-based service. Upon the expiry or cancellation of a subscription, certain premium features (including automatic synchronization, neural voice narration, and cognitive stimulation activities) will be suspended. Users will maintain limited, "read-only" access to play back their existing LifeStories manually on their local device.
Data Portability (The Export Feature): While a subscription is active, users can use the "Export" feature to create a local backup that can be imported into other LifeStory installations.
Post-Subscription Export: Following the expiry of a subscription, LifeStory provides continued data portability, allowing users to export their collected pictures, text, and sounds into a universal HTML5 format for external viewing.
Server Retention: Encrypted data stored on our secure Azure servers for synchronization purposes will be maintained for 90 days following subscription expiry to allow for easy reactivation. After this 90-day period, we reserve the right to permanently delete the encrypted cloud data to protect your privacy.
Multi-Device: LifeStory operates a 'Cloud-Local' data model. Clicking 'Delete Cloud Data' will permanently and immediately erase all encrypted content from our central servers, terminating multi-device synchronization. This fulfils the ‘Request Account Deletion’ requirement. This action does not remove local data currently stored on your permitted devices. To completely erase all traces of your LifeStory, you must use the in-app 'Delete Cloud Data' function AND manually uninstall the application from all your devices.
6.1. Right to Erasure: Clicking ‘Delete Cloud Data’ within the App settings serves as a formal 'Request for Account Deletion'. This action immediately and permanently purges all encrypted content from our central servers.
7. Cognitive Stimulation & Neural Voices LifeStory utilizes advanced Neural Voices for Text-to-Speech and interactive Jigsaw Puzzles for cognitive stimulation. These features are provided "as-is" for wellness and reminiscence purposes and do not constitute medical treatment.
8. Anonymous Usage & Diagnostics (TelemetryDeck) To improve app stability and performance, we use TelemetryDeck.
Privacy-First Analytics: TelemetryDeck does not collect Personal Identifiable Information (PII). It uses double-hashed identifiers to provide us with anonymous usage data (e.g., "how many jigsaws were completed") and crash reports. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other companies' apps.TelemetryDeck and RevenueCat never receive LifeStory content (photos/ audio).
9. Governing Law These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Appendix A: Apple App Store Supplemental Terms
These terms apply specifically to users who have downloaded LifeStory via the Apple App Store.
Acknowledgement: You and Steps Consulting Ltd acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and Steps Consulting Ltd only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). Steps Consulting Ltd, not Apple, is solely responsible for the LifeStory app and the content thereof.
Scope of License: The license granted to you for LifeStory is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control and as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the App Store Terms of Service.
Maintenance and Support: Steps Consulting Ltd is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the App. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services.
Warranty: In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever.
Product Claims: You acknowledge that Steps Consulting Ltd, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims related to the App, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
Intellectual Property Rights: You acknowledge that, in the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, Steps Consulting Ltd, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
Legal Compliance: You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-Party Beneficiary: You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
Appendix B: Google Play Store Supplemental Terms
These terms apply specifically to users who have downloaded LifeStory via the Google Play Store.
Google Play Terms: Your use of the LifeStory app is subject to the then-current Google Play Terms of Service.
Billing and Subscriptions: All subscription purchases made through Google Play are processed by Google. You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal through your Google Play account settings.
License Grant: The license granted by Steps Consulting Ltd for the use of LifeStory is a non-exclusive, worldwide, and perpetual (subject to subscription status) license to perform, display, and use the App on your device.
Appendix C: Paddle (Non-Store Purchase) Supplemental Terms
These terms apply to users who purchase a subscription directly using Paddle.
Merchant of Record: Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our web orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Tax Compliance: Paddle is responsible for the collection and remittance of all applicable VAT, Sales Tax, or GST based on your location at the time of purchase.
Activation: Upon successful purchase via Paddle, you will be provided with a unique activation method via RevenueCat to unlock the full features of LifeStory on your supported devices.
Refund Policy (Web): Unlike App Store purchases, refund requests for web-based purchases must be directed to Paddle or Steps Consulting Ltd support within 14 days of purchase, provided the service has not been substantially utilized.
